A reminder that the 2019 Memorial Service and Luncheon is being held on Sunday 4th August 2019 at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffs at 11am
The service is held on the nearest Sunday to 1st August that being the date in 1980 when the flag was lowered for the last time at PGHQ.
We are pleased to say that 9790 Duncan Waugh, son of former A/Commissioner Gordon Waugh has accepted an invitation to give the address during the service.
Duncan served through the final years of the Bush War with all the experiences that entailed.
Representatives of other Rhodesian Services will also be attending.
This year is the 130th anniversary of the founding of the BSAP. The service at the Memorial gives us an opportunity to remember and give thanks for the achievements of the BSAP and ‘All Who Served’ in making the BSAP the finest Police Force in the world and because the history of the BSAP is inextricably bound up with the history of Rhodesia, making that country, in its time, one of the finest in the world.
So come along and spend a few minutes quietly remembering your experiences, the colleagues you served with, friends and relations who served as well as those who died serving the BSAP and the country.
There will be an opportunity during the service for the laying of wreaths and crosses in remembrance.
After the service spend time sharing those experiences and memories with others there in the new function room at the Arboretum as well as enjoying a substantial buffet lunch and cash bar.
There will be a display of BSAP memorabilia.
Tickets for the lunch cost £20 and should be purchased in advance to enable the caterers to have some idea of numbers attending. Tickets will not be available on the day.
